Sweet Tooth!

Quote for the day!
"I don't LIKE food, I LOVE it. If I don't LOVE it, I don't SWALLOW."
My family can totally live on pure sugar I swear!! It was a really good thing my mom married my dad who is big into sports and staying fit and hates eating JUNK FOOD!!  So it evens our family out... haha The last couple weeks we have been learning how to make cookies and caramel popcorn and caramel apples. My dad hated the idea but my mom loved every minute of it. We tried them out and oh my gosh they are to die for. So here is the recipe we used. If you try making them let me know how it goes! Good luck.
Sugar Cookies Recipe:

Ingredients

Large Bowl: 1 cup Sour Cream
1 cup Shortening
2 large eggs
1 tsp Vanilla
2 cups Sugar
Mix them all together

Medium Bowl:
4 1/2 cups Flour
1/2 tsp Salt
4 tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
Mix them all together

Then pour the medium bowl into the large bowl and mix them all together.
Roll out on floured board or a silicone baking mat and cut into desired shapes using a cookie cutter dipped in flour before each cut.
Bake in a preheated 350°F until slightly brown around edges.
Frost and decorate as desired.

Caramel Corn Recipe:
Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 quarts popped popcorn

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (95 degrees C). Place popcorn in a very large bowl.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil without stirring 4 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in soda and vanilla. Pour in a thin stream over popcorn, stirring to coat.
  3. Place in two large shallow baking dishes and bake in preheated oven, stirring every 15 minutes, for 1 hour. Remove from oven and let cool completely before breaking into pieces.

Great for those" Red Box" nights!!
We have decided we can only make caramel corn and sugar cookies on special occasions and thats it.
