Friends during Highschool

I never realized how important friends really are until just NOW! Looking at kids these days and what they are doing with the friends they have are just mind boggling. I started 9th grade at Olympus Jr. High and felt so out of place because I lived in Sugarhouse area and came to a school not knowing one person. My parents thought it was a good idea to bring us kids up to the east side. I didn't really care much then but I was really torn by moving not know anybody.

I needed a way to make friends so  I tried out for the basketball team at Olympus High and made it. That is how I met alot of the girls I still know to this day and am good friends with them. I gained confidence and strenth to meet other people. I was so shy and not the hottest girl around. In my eyes I thought I had to have blonde hair and blue eyes for boys to even notice me. I thought I had to wear the cutest clothes and the newest style of shoes for a guy to even glance my way. I thought I had to live in the area of what school I was going to. I thought WRONG!!!! I just had to do what I love and what I'm comfortable with and I'd find the right friends. I joined the basketball team like I mentioned earlier. I joined the track and field team, the long distance summer team and the volleyball team. Finding good friends after that was a piece of cake!!! I met girls that accepted me for me, that loved everything I loved, that stood for what was right, and that  was just peer nice to everyone around them.

10th grade came along. I was finally of age to date and go to school dances. I was now going to Olympus High School and homecoming was coming up. They had a stomp after a football game one night and they were trying to raise money for something so they autioned some kids off. One of the boys happened to be Adam Ince a kid I t hought was so cute back in 9th grade. A kid who in my eyes looked like Ashton Kutcher and was just all around the hottest item at the time!! He was on the football team, played the guitar and the base, and also wrestled. Thinking I was way cool at the time I went and put a bid on him for $19 haha.... I won of course and we went to homecoming together! We became good friends and dated for about a year. His parents were super nice. His friends became my friends and they were some of the funniest boys I know! These boys were so close they told eachother about their family issues, school, money problems and girl issues. I loved it! Well thats how I ended up getting my first boyfriend. We dated for a year and a half and went to more dances than we should have hehe... He was all around a great friend. Im glad I met him when I did.

In the middle of my 11th grade year I transfered to Highland High School. The friends I had their were just great! Every dance we went to our friends always made sure no one was left out. Everytime we would go out to lunch girls would always make sure everyone had something to eat. Evertime we hung out we made sure eveyone knew what was going on that night. I loved it! My friends always dressed modest. They always had standards which I loved and am still so grateful for that to this day. We all had a cerfew which made it easy for all of us to go home on time. When we went to school dances all my girlfriends knew there standards. I had some good times with them. I even dated some of the nicest boys that treated me like I was a princess. I met Thomas Bradley who was one of my many crushes back in 7th grade. He was one of my seminary buddies. I met Jake Orchard who was a great athlete and was a good family friend. I met Lopeti Ofa who turned to be related to me on my grandmas side!!! That is another blog hahaha... Anyways Im glad I dated around and I met the neatest, talented, beautiful, kind, girls I know to this day!

In 12th grade I was still at Highland. I had the opportunity to travel to India with my friends for a humanitarian project. It was an incredible experiance and I will never forget that. Our group was called YMAD (youth making a difference) Oh man how I wish I could go back. For our senior trip we all went to New Port and thats all Im gonna tell you about that!

We all graduated together. My friends have no idea how much they have changed my life for the better.
Hope you enjoy and dont pass thin information to anyone else haha...

  1. I remember how shy you were when I first met you, and your mom. It's understandable trying to find your way in a different area, and school. Sierra went through the same thing when we moved up here to Jersey, but oh boy...she has made so many friends, and she is now in the top 20 of her class! You were (still are) such a beautiful young woman who has done really well for yourself. I am proud of who you are raising some cute kids! Stay strong in the gospel, and you'll be extremely blessed! Love ya!
